Your First Essential Oil Class: What To Expect
Your First Essential Oil Class: What To Expect
Your first essential oil class is all scheduled! Yay! I’m so happy for you. Do you feel the butterflies of excitement already? Getting a class scheduled sends a literal thrill through me. In-person essential oil classes are one of my very favorite things. Not much compares to the excitement of sharing doTERRA face to face. The joy as someone smells Citrus Bliss wafting from the diffuser. The surprise as they smell doTERRA peppermint and realize that peppermint is powerful! Most of all, the ahh… as they experience that perfect doTERRA CPTG essential oil for their unique wellness goal. When they realize, that yes, this will work, safely and naturally from the comfort of their own home. That, my friend, is priceless. You will never regret sharing doTERRA. Essential oil classes are going to bring a lot of joy into your life, and to the lives you touch.
First Essential Oil Class: What To Expect
To clarify, this blog post will be about an in-person doTERRA essential oil class. I do teach online Facebook classes over in Exploring Essential Oils. However, the expectations would be a little bit different for hostessing an online essential oil class. Perhaps I will plan to blog another time about that!
Also, to keep this post from being super long, we are just going to cover the actual class. But if you’d like tips on how to invite your guests and fill up the room check out one of my most popular posts: The Secret To A Successful Essential Oil Class Invite
How Long Is An Essential Oil Class?
A first essential oil class from start to finish will usually run about 2 to 3 hours. Before you panic, let me explain. This allows time for your guests to arrive, get settled in with a little snack or drink, introductions, and chat a bit. Next, there is the actual class part. The teaching portion of an essential oil class should be no longer than 45 minutes. After the class part, there will be time to refill snacks and drinks, answer questions, place orders, and so on.
Do I Need Snacks For My First Essential Oil Class?
These gatherings are most successful when they are casual and everyone feels at home. Snacks help everyone feel comfortable and are a part of hostessing. However, for your first essential oil class, you don’t need to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. You don’t need to spend a lot of money either! My most successful doTERRA events have simple healthy finger foods. Some ideas would be a veggie tray, salsa with some essential oil in it, organic corn chips for dipping, essential oil flavored water, or possibly peppermint brownies!
Simple recipes with essential oils in them:
- Salsa With Essential Oils
- Refreshing Flavored Water
- Peppermint brownies (just add 3-5 drops of doTERRA peppermint oil to the mix before you bake)
- Lemon Zucchini Loaf With doTERRA Lemon Oil
What Materials Do I Need For My First Essential Oil Class?
If your upline is teaching your first class for you, they will likely have their own materials. I provide all class materials for my local downline when teaching. However, if you don’t have local upline available to teach your first essential oil class, you can still do this successfully! A great option is to look for the “Class In A Box Kit” provided in your doTERRA back office. The “Class In A Box Kit” will be located under the business tools section and includes everything you need to teach your own first essential oil class successfully!
Additional materials for teaching your first essential oil class:
- A small thank you gift for your guests
- Essential oil reference book for guests to look up wellness goals
- Laptop to place orders for your guests, or help them enroll, through your doTERRA back office
- A datebook to schedule one on one follow-ups
- Your own doTERRA products – whatever you have on hand is fine
TIP: Settle your date and time for a second class before the first class even happens! You are off to a great start by hostessing your first essential oil class. Now let’s keep the momentum rolling. The most successful essential oil businesses are built on the momentum of multiple classes. Invite guests to come back for the second class before they head home. You can choose any topic you would like for the second class to keep things interesting for yourself and your guests
What Information Is Covered During The “Class Part”?
This will vary depending on the class topic you choose. I suggest choosing a basic “Essential Oils 101” format for your very first essential oil class. This will give a strong foundation for you to build from for future class topics. The “class in a box kit”, is a great example of a basic “Essential Oils 101” format.
Key points covered in any essential oil class are:
- What is an essential oil?
- doTERRA CPTG & Sourcing
- Essential oil usage instructions
- Personal stories about the essential oils you are highlighting
- Multiple opportunities to encourage guests to try the oils
Will We Try Products At My First Essential Oil Class?
Absolutely! Trying out the doTERRA products and oils is a favorite part of every essential oil class! I bring all of my essential oils along but only set up to highlight a specific kit. I will pass the oils I’m highlighting around the room as I teach about each oil. Guests love this part! After the teaching portion is over, I encourage guests to try out any oils we didn’t cover during the class that they may be curious about. Helping guests experience doTERRA is a LOT of fun!
