7 Things To Do On Your Next Rest Day

Life gets so rushed and just crazy,  doesn’t it?  It’s healthy to step away from it all for time to rest and practice self care.  Have you ever taken a rest day?  What might that look like for you?  Let’s explore!

What Is A Rest Day?

First of all,  you may be wondering,  “What is a rest day?”.  That’s actually a great question.  A rest day is a day set aside for self care.  It may be a full day,  or it may be a shorter amount of time.  A full day is ideal,  but work within the amount of time you have.  A rest day is a day where you declare to yourself,  “Today is for taking care of me.”

Why Practice Self Care?

When we practice self care,  we clear space.  This is especially important for women.  Most of us have a natural tendency to take care of everyone else.  And that’s fine.  But what about time just for you?  What about time to sit and reflect about your dreams.  Time to rest your body for your physical health.  Or simply an emotional space to get away.  All of this,  so you can come back even stronger.  Self care is important.  And everyone needs it.  There are many ways to practice self care when taking a rest day.

What Do I Do On A Rest Day?

Here are seven of my favorite things to do when I take a day to rest.  Choose what appeals to you.  Or create your own list of favorite self care rituals.  What’s most important is taking the time to be alone and quiet.  Space to reflect.  And creating a rest day ritual where you practice self care on a regular basis.  Here is what I love to do.

  1. A gentle walk outside in the sunshine.
  2. Taking time to simply rest.
  3. Crafting projects or other relaxing hobbies.
  4. Journaling or blogging (obviously I enjoy these!).
  5. Take time to reflect,  and even read some quotes.
  6. Drink plenty of water.
  7. Read a book.
  8. Use essential oils to support my body physically and emotionally.

Diffuser Blend For Quiet Renewal Time

In closing,  here is an oil diffuser blend that I enjoy.  It calms and relaxes me.  I turn on my essential oil diffuser while I’m taking a rest day.  The aroma wafts through the air and helps me relax deeply.  Perfect for your next rest day!
