Selling doTERRA BOGOs online with relationship marketing is easy to do. You are being handed something valuable to offer your contact with the BOGO oils. But you want to approach sharing that value through relationship marketing.
Relationship marketing means you know the person you are contacting, and you first respect that relationship. The sale is always secondary to the relationship. The relationship always holds higher value. Or more bluntly, don’t be spammy about it.
Give An Opt-In & Opt-Out
Keep your doTERRA BOGO wee relationship based by providing an opt in and opt out. Respect that as amazing as the doTERRA BOGOs are, your customer may not be prepared to buy them this week. And that is perfectly okay.
What does an opt-in mean?
Giving an opt-in means you have not automatically added your contact to a list or group. You have not taken for granted any part of your relationship. Instead, you have respected the relationship first and asked permission to sell to them.
What does allowing an opt-out mean?
While asking permission, I always give an opt out. The weight of a graceful opt-out does not fall on your customer. It falls on you.
An opt-out simply states “I know this might not be right for you right now, and I respect that. I am giving you graceful permission to say no.”
Do they need permission to opt out? No. That isn’t the point. The point is that you are respecting them.
Selling doTERRA BOGOs Through Private Messaging
Next, let’s talk about an easy way to sell the doTERRA BOGOs online. Private messaging. Now, this is not a spammy message. Nor is it a copy/paste. Can we just say, um… ew to all of those?
What I am sharing is my own relationship based formula. Here is the exact outline I used for selling the doTERRA BOGOS online through private messaging before I had a larger social media presence.
This outline takes for granted that you have greeted and eased into the conversation already. I think you’ve got that part!
1. Mention a prior conversation about the oils (or specific reason they might be interested). This establishes that you are creating a relationship based, non-salesy message. You are coming from a place of service before sales and offering a solution to a problem. If you cannot think of a reason for them needing oils, this is not the time to message about selling doTERRA BOGOs.
2. SHORT explanation of the BOGO – “I just wanted to let you know that doTERRA is offering a “deal of the day” this week (Monday 20 – Saturday 25)“
3. ASK PERMISSION TO MESSAGE: “Would you like to be notified of the BOGO/special deal each day?”
4. End with the graceful opt-out. “No worries if this isn’t for you right now. I just didn’t want you to miss out if you are interested!”
And Then Follow Through!
Your next step is simple! Follow through! Their response will go one of two ways. Either they will be interested, or they won’t. But either way is fine! And BE fine with it. 😉 Your job is to ask – it’s not to decide their answer for them.
- If they aren’t interested… follow through with your usual relationship building practices.
- If they are interested, follow through by messaging the special each day!
Remember to keep these messages short and relational. An example would be “Today’s oil is Lemon with a BOGO of Grapefruit. I absolutely adore a drop each in my water glass. It tastes amazing and decreases my feelings of hunger between meals!” or “Remember how we were talking about cleaning with essential oils the other day? The Lemon is perfect for that!“

Selling doTERRA BOGO’s By Hosting An Online Party!
Another way to sell the doTERRA BOGOS online is by hosting your very own doTERRA Facebook party! This is the method I am personally choosing this year! When you create a Facebook event, be sure to include fun and engaging posts. It’s important to give your guests a reason to hang around (community), that’s different from your promotional BOGO sale posts.
Make your party relationship marketing focused. One advantage of Facebook parties, is they encompass a larger number of people than private messaging. And your guests will create community with each other!
