Tension And Stress
When I was first introduced to essential oils, I had a lot of stress and tension in my life. My son was a newborn and not sleeping well. My daughter was just over two and getting into everything. We had even just moved! When I began to feel the calming effects of lavender oil, it was like a lightbulb went on. This single oil opened me up to natural health options. I learned that I could put a few drops of lavender into the bath, and soak away my stress and tension late at night after the kids were finally asleep.
Lavender Oil Is Emotionally Calming
Lavender is an emotionally calming oil. As a family with young children, there are times they are cranky. I find that diffusing a few drops of lavender oil in my diffuser is a really easy way to restore quietness and peace.
I used this just the other day. Within minutes my 4-year-old and my 5-year-old both went from squabbling with each other to quietly cleaning up their toys – without being prompted! The lavender in the diffuser made such a profound difference in their emotional state.
Sleeping Well At Night
Lavender oil is famous for the benefit of promoting restful sleep. As a family, we are no different. I sleep so deeply and wake up feeling so refreshed when I’ve chosen lavender as the oil to diffuse overnight in our bedroom.
Soothe Muscle Tension & Knots
As an online entrepreneur and work at home mom, I spend hours on the computer. Maybe you can relate to getting a knot in the back or side of your neck after a long day! A few drops of lavender oil rubbed right into a knot of muscle tension is incredibly soothing. Pair with doTERRA Peppermint for a winning combo. 💥
Use Lavender For Minor Burns
Every family needs to have a bottle of lavender oil handy to their kitchen. Ever grab the cookie sheet, and be trying to shoo the kids safely back at the same time, and accidentally put your own finger right on that hot cookie sheet? I have found that quickly reaching for my trusty bottle of lavender is very soothing to the stinging sensation of minor burns like these.
Small Insect Stings
Small insect stings are another reason you will always want a bottle of lavender oil on hand. My kids love running around barefoot in the summer time. I think that’s great, because I remember doing the same as a child. However, our backyard is full of clover which is a natural attraction to bees. My daughter got a small sting last summer and we grabbed… (you guessed it!) the lavender oil. I put a generous amount of oil over the sting and she was back to running around again in no time!
Calm The Barking Dog
We even use lavender for our dog. Happy is a border collie who absolutely loves to bark. I found that a single drop of oil calmed her barking! To apply, I placed in my own hands, rubbed it around in my palms, and then dispersed through the fur on her back by petting her. I was so amazed because nothing else had ever worked!
Head Tension
Ugh… don’t you just hate experiencing head tension? Maybe you didn’t sleep well the night before, maybe the kids are screaming extra loud today or you have a problem at work. You feel it begin nagging at the back of your skull and it only adds to the frustration. Enter lavender oil, rub it right on where you are feeling the head tension. Suddenly it all doesn’t seem so bad, and it’s all thanks to lavender!
Seasonal Discomfort
Pollen season. Do you dread it? I used to, but not since I started using lavender oil! Now when pollens are high and I’m feeling a bit of seasonal discomfort, I reach for that trusty bottle of lavender oil to soothe myself. It’s Ahhh-mazing.

Skin Irritations
Young children are always falling and bumping themselves. Next time you are dealing with tears and a scraped knee, lavender oil is your friend. If the skin is broken, apply around the irritated area instead of directly on it to minimize any sensitivity. I would use the doTERRA Touch roller ball for this since it’s already prediluted and so convenient!
Chapped Lips
In the wintertime, I am prone to chapped lips. The air is always so dry, and my lips dry out too. Even when they are most irritated, lavender offers soothing relief. To try this for yourself, just use a drop of lavender essential oil on your finger tip and rub into your lips!
