What To Do When You Can’t Make It To Your Direct Sales Convention
Since joining doTERRA over 8 years ago, I’ve made amazing friendships. So when doTERRA Evolve (the direct sales convention for ALL doTERRA members) was announced this year, I wanted to go so badly.
But the reality is that I had to stay at home during the doTERRA convention. I have some major health challenges that make any large event unsafe for my health.
I want to share this post with anyone else who wanted to go to their direct sales convention but couldn’t. This blog post is to help anyone figure out what to do when you can’t make it to your direct sales convention. It is not a “poor me” post, because who has time for that? We are all doing the best we can!
There are some tips you might not have considered. Things to maximize the company convention time even though you need to stay home this year.
Even though you are unable to make it to your direct sales convention, you can still get in on the fun from afar! Yes, you’d rather be there. But you can still enjoy what you can!!! 💜🦋 And it’s still possible to use doTERRA convention to help grow your essential oil business.
Join A Direct Sales Convention Group
Some of the larger companies, such as doTERRA, will have a multitude of convention themed groups that pop up just before or even during the convention. These could be upline, crossline, or just sister consultant groups. The idea of these groups is those who are able to attend their direct sales convention will share as much information as they can with those who are at home. This is so sweet and thoughtful of them and brings the convention a bit closer for us. I try to join as many as I possibly can. And this has really helped me keep my spirits up and not feel so much that I am missing out on all the good stuff.
Ask A Bestie To Go Live From Convention For You
One of my besties, Jenna went Live with another retreat member, Minessa, during the SassyCon direct sellers convention. It was just a quick one between sessions where they popped in to say hello and they each shared a quick tip that they learned from SassyCon! I don’t know about you, but I’m so incredibly thankful to have besties like these in my life! It is such a small thing for them, and they are happy to do it. But it goes such a long way to everyone who couldn’t make it. When a bestie goes Live, we get to see them and experience that tiny little slice of our company’s convention.
Look for the Convention Pictures
It’s so fun to see all of the direct sales convention pictures whether you can make it or not! I love seeing my Facebook feed being full of doTERRA Convention photos!
Sometimes there are hashtags to follow. I’m sure your own direct sales company might have hashtags as well. Remember to engage on the pictures and hashtags of the convention attendees. This is a good way to “meet” some new people virtually!
Take Advantage Of Live Streaming
With today’s technology, watching your direct sales convention on LiveStream may be a real possibility for you! Last year, doTERRA Livestreamed their whole convention. It moved me to tears to be able to attend virtually since attending in person was physically impossible for me. Live streaming makes you feel almost as if you are right there, and the times I’ve had this privilege has been so incredible for me. So if you have the opportunity to attend via Livestream – do take advantage of it.
Use The Convention Time To Further Your Business
Something that has worked out well for me is using the convention time to further my business. Maybe I set aside those days to learn from a direct sales course online. Or I used the time to work on my blog. Sometimes I have even had an online party! There are so many ways to work your business extra hard during the convention. Use the little sneak peeks or the views on the Livestream. Or even just the THOUGHT of everyone attending the convention to spur you to rise higher, too! You don’t need to physically be at the convention to dedicate the convention time to further your business!
Instead of Moping, Look For Ways To Help
I know that it IS sad when you have a direct sales convention that you wish with all your heart you could attend. It’s okay to be sad, for five minutes. But then it’s time to let go of that sadness and look for ways to help. No moping allowed!!
When we have to stay at home, it becomes our privilege to cheer for and support those who could make it.
Here are some ideas of ways to help out during a direct sales convention, from home:
Maybe you could help admin an upline or community group for someone who is attending so she is free to enjoy the convention. By volunteering, you are getting to help someone who can attend get more out of their experience! When you see them enjoying the convention, you will feel happy instead of sad. Because you know that in your own little way, you are helping THEM be there. Helping admin an upline group is a great chance for you to get some leadership experience, too.
Another idea! Maybe you could help out a team member who is there with your own connections. You can help her by connecting her with other people you know in your company, or fellow direct sellers she would enjoy meeting.
Or maybe you can simply cheer loudly from the sidelines, and be grateful to be a part of such an awesome direct sales company at all.
